There are many jelly fish and they are harmless!
I wanted to post this movie at the previous blog: Trip to Palau.
However, it seems the capacity is limited for one blog; therefore, I am posting it here.
I caught this at the time of exit so I wasn’t prepared.
Perhaps, the quality of movie is not good to be posted but I’m so excited to catch the Manta Train so I’ll share this anyway.
I was absent from Word Press but there are so many things that I wanted to post.
Sorry, I was too tired. hahaha
I took days off from 31 January – 5 February 2020 to go to Palau for diving.
I haven’t dived for a while so surely I was excited.
Unfortunately, the direct flight between Narita and Palau by Delta is no longer in service.
We took United to Guam and change flight.
I didn’t know it was preferred to obtain ESTA (electric VISA for the US) for transit at Guam.
We need to go through immigration to exit and re-enter at Guam.
I busily registered myself but I received a notice that it will take two days to process it.
I needed the internet access and rushed to the gate.
Hoping application would be processed by the time we reached to Guam.
I continued to register for others till losing internet connection before departure.
My seat was facing back so I could have a clear view of airplanes heading for runway
And taking off.
I purchased inflight internet access for an hour to complete registration for ESTA for friends.
I’ve done what we could do at that time.
I had Loco Moco for inflight lunch.
I thought the way serving lemon tea is cute.
Now landing to Guam.
Unfortunately, ESTA wasn’t approved by the time we landed.
However, we were informed by a flight attendant that we could queue at the line for ESTA holder for transit.
We exited and re-entered.
We had good four hours to connecting flight.
We chatted over drinks and light snacks.
United’s flight video is collaborated with Star Wars!!!
This might be showing at previous flight but I was too busy registering ESTA so I’m might have missed it. hahaha
I had sandwich for inflight meal.
It looks simple yet nice.
The person next to me placed her arm on my inflight monitor controller so I could not view anything.
When I managed to press it while she moved her arm but later she placed her arm to change the channel. Sigh
She was watching Japanese movie with English subtitle so I watched her screen.
It was less than 2 hour flight but I felt it longer…
I didn’t know that Palau is stop over for this flight and this continued to Manila.
I had to walk over two passengers to exit. Ahhhhh
Finally, we arrived at Palau and the Penthouse Hotel in Koror.
The internet connection is superb and WCTC shopping center is nicely located in few minutes walk away.
The hotel provides blue beach towel at the counter.
The next day we had a breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
For the next day, we bought breakfast at the supermarket at WCTC such as anpan (red bean bread), yogurt and orange juice for breakfast.
We departed for diving shop, Cruse Control.
Nice staffs looked after us.
I decided to take a license for NITROX this time.
We came to Palau in early February, especially new moon for spawning season for Tsunodashiuo (Moorish Idols).
If we are lucky we could see over few hundreds even thousand Moorish Idols in a group.
We dived mainly at Blue Corner where we can expect many various fish and of course Moorish Idols.
To my surprise there are many sharks swimming under a group of Moorish Idols.
I didn’t know sharks are not good at hunting.
Therefore, a shark targets Moorish Idols when they become weak at the spawning season.
Unfortunately; they swim deeper than us and light won’t reach them so it’s not clear on the photo.
However, these shadows indicate sharks and you would know there are MANY.
We were lucky that we managed to watch Moorish Idols at most of our dives.
We also watched other fish.
Can you find a fish?
And at the German Channel, we also caught Mantas!
I even watched Manta Train!
However, I noticed there is limited capacity for one post.
I will post the movie of Manta Train on the different post.
Sayonara Koror, Sayonara Moorish Idols!
These are lunch that I had on the boat.
And at the shop.
After 14 dives over 3.5 days, I joined a half day trip to Shell Island and Jelly Fish Park for snorkeling which is operated by Antelope.
Shell Island and also called Inoki Island.
Japanese retired Professional wrestler, Inoki has a property here.
It’s Shell Island because there are Shakogai (Giant Clams).
And some fish
The next is the major destination… heading for Jelly Fish Park!!!!
When I visited Palau in 2017, Jelly Fish Park was closed because of death of Jelly Fish due to global warming.
It was so much fun!
There are so many of jelly fish and these are harmless to touch!
Every night, we had nice food such as Thai, Indian and Sushi for supper.
On the last night, we and staffs of diving shop gathered to have a party at Italian restaurant.
Our departure flight was at 3:35 am, I slept through the returned flights.
I remember having breakfast only. hahaha
My friend arranged Christmas Golf at Satsuki Golf Club Kanuma Course.
I caught 6:50 am subway for Kita Senju Station to catch Tobu Express Kegon 5 (Departing Kita Senju Station at 7:42am); this train reaches far as Nikko, a nice UNESCO heritage place.
The uniqueness of this train is it’s entrance is located at platform of other line.
I enjoyed peaceful Winter views from the window.
There are many ducks.
Mountains with snow.
I even spotted Mt. Fuji!
Mountains can be seen clear and closer.
The club bus will wait for us at Shin Kanuma Station.
We checked in at the club and got ready.
Today, we can drive in the cart in the course; yeah, we can save energy!
It was nice weather, sunshine without cold wind.
I enjoyed the first half; then I had a Genghis Khan, Mongolian Style mutton BBQ for lunch.
I played okay for a player who hasn’t played for nearly two years (Score: 95).
After the game, we quickly took a bath to catch a club bus back to Shin Kanuma Station.
We went to our usual place, Micchan for after game party and Bonenkai (Year End Gathering).
We wanted to continue chatting, eating and drinking but we had a train to catch.
We continued on the train.
We even stopped at Kita Senju Station to further continued.
I had a good laugh with my friends so I could conclude that my Christmas was ver Merry.
My friend is organizing Christmas Golf on Christmas Day.
I haven’t hit a ball for nearly two years.
I was worried whether I can still hit a ball.
I went to Jingu Golf Driving Range for practice.
I hit 72 balls wishing for a par game. hahaha
We lazily woke up late in the morning.
We had to rush to go up for the breakfast.
Or shall I calm it brunch…?
I should exercise because I’ve been eating very well.
I wanted to swim at the pool of Sky Bar where we enjoyed drinks and music last night.
I selfishly occupIed the Twin Tower view. fufufu
After relaxing my body with water, we went to the SPA for 120 mins Spa Treatment: Blissful Renewal.
The menu includes Aromatherapy Foot Ritual, Aromatherapy Massage, Clarifying Facial and Herbal Tea.
We started with drinking herbal tea.
We selected the aroma oil; I selected Oolong for energizing (Lavender, Lime and Oolong Tea).
We moved to a couple room to start our Spa.
I enjoyed it very much though I don’t remember much because I slept well during the treatment.
Nonetheless, my body is totally relaxed and I feel fresh now!
It’s time for cocktail and dinner so we went straight to the Lounge.
Since my body is relaxed, drinks made me feeling even better. hahaha
My BFF made me a killer drink: coffee chocolate and whisky.
It’s her husband’s recipe and it’s nicely Chocolatey.
I regret that I forgot to take a photo.
It’s a hot drink, looks like a mug of coffee.
Now it’s time to roll over on the bed!
This is my favorite moment with BFF.
I tried this diet and fitness app for two weeks.
I record weight, food/calories, steps and sleeping hours.
I can obtain information on exercise, food, life style, products, supplements, events, etc.
AI checks on me when I forget to record.
AI suggests based on my record and pattern.
I’m having conversation with AI.
This app provides me points by doing something good for health and wellness and I like to collect points.
Today, I registered and became a member.
This app is not free; but Let’s do it!
Usually, something will come up and I won’t be able to complete my week like this.
Nonetheless, I managed for a week and this is my ideal week.
Monday, 3 June 2019, Exercise at Tipness Roppongi
Tuesday, 4 June 2019, Exercise at Megalos 0+ Ebisu
Friday, 7 June 2019, VoltBox at Megalos Hibiya
Saturday, 8 June 2019, Spa at May’s Garden Spa
Sunday, 9 June 2019, Diving at Bommie Diving Shop, Ito (Tateyama), Chiba
It has been 11 months since my last dive.
Fishermen feed sharks and stingray to protect fish from them; therefore, there are many and I really mean MANY sharks and stingrays at the East Bouy Point.
I was hit by sharks and stingrays.
There is a cute frogfish.
I use old iPhone 5 as my camera so it’s not equip to take a small creature.
This is the best shot for a frogfish.
On the other hand, my friend recently bought a Panasonic TG-5 and took a nice photo using microscope mode. Ta~da~
There are many different designed cute seaslugs.
But my photos are not sharp and clear enough.
Shall I buy a camera so that I can take photos like these? hummmmm
We left hotel early with a breakfast bag to watch Ayers Rock in Sun Rise.
There was a dark cloud that worried me…
At the view point, there was as a drink and snack station for us; but I quickly made a hot chocolate to go to bring it to the view point.
Ayers Rock is covered by the thick cloud….
It’s time for Sun Rise; but…
Unfortunately, Ayers Rock was still covered with the thick cloud.
It’s not a good sign because according to the tour itinerary, we supposed to climb the Ayers Rock today.
The cloud was cleared by the time we reached to the gate, but the gate was closed due to low cloud and I am aware of IT.
Since we could not climb; we went to walk at Mala Walk.
The common trees that we can observe here is named Desert Bloodtree.
The tree sap looks like bleeding blood.
There are quite number of trees because the area is semi-deserted area, meaning less rain but rich with underwater.
There is a trace of waterfall on the rock face.
There will be a water fall when it’s rained.
There are many caves with purpose.
This is Kitchen Cave.
This is the spot that aborigines cooked bread like naan.
Aborigines didn’t have letters; therefore, they left messages in drawing.
We can find many painting at the various caves.
Are these bird’s foot steps?
This is Old People’s Cave where Elderlies assembled to conduct ceremonies including cooking in the cave.
You can walk through the great nature.
There is even an anthill.
we took many trick art photos with this trace of giant water fall.
This spiky bush, Soft Spinifex, is commonly found in this area.
we can find many trees hit by lightning because rich water inside of the tree can attract lightning.
Kantju Gorge is big waterhole.
We usually don’t see water at the bottom but there are much water from last night rain.
We could see water in waterhole because the rain was strong with thunder and lightning last night; however, ironically, the string rain last night closed the gate of Ayers Rock today.
We continued our walk.
This tree is ageless; when there is not enough rain; this tree can prune itself.
That is why the growth ring and its age doesn’t match.
The nature is great.
There are many more caves.
There are many drawings at the Teaching Cave.
This is called Desert Lantern-Flower; the flower looks like a lantern.
Of course, there are many wild birds as well.
There are few caves look like lip; I wonder how nature have created this?
The gate to Ayers Rock was still closed; therefore, we continued our walk at Kuniya Walk.
This is Bush Plum with some plum fruit.
One of our tour mate is good at finding wild birds and animals.
There is a Mutitjulu Waterhole.
Again, there is much water from the rain.
There is heart and peace shaped holes for Good Luck Fortune for Love.
I hope these will bless me.
There is a story about two snakes: Kuniya and Liru ( https://parksaustralia.gov.au/uluru/discover/culture/stories/kuniya-liru-story/ )
Kuniya attacked Liru: this photo represents Liru and crack caused by Kuniya’s attack.
Kuniya is watching Liru. (Kuniya’s head at left bottom corner is watching Liru in the mountain face).
We returned to hotel before noon.
After getting off the bus, I saw three lady tour mates talking in front of the receptionist counter.
I asked whether they plan to go to Ayers Rock during today’s free time and they replied YES.
At 12 noon, the gate was still closed.
We were informed we could check the status about 12:30 pm.
We returned to the counter at 12:30 pm and was informed the gate has opened!
We quickly checked and planned to Ayers Rock.
We could reach to the gate by Hop On Hop Off Bus (AUD 49) by making a reservation at the hotel.
We could pay the National Park Entry Fee (AUD 25 cash only) directly to the driver.
First, we need to use chain to climb up.
The slope can be sharp as 47 degree.
I thought we are almost at the summit when I finished the chain area.
I was wrong, I started walking following the line.
I soon regretted to wear a normal sneaker.
I should have worn a pair of mountain shoes so that I can get a grip.
Since my shoes was slippery, I had to use my hands like a Spider Woman to climb some area.
You also need to bring 1 litter of water.
It’s 348 m high and some travel information says it takes (ONLY) 2 hours for return trip, but this 2 hours is for athletic person.
On the way to the summit, I was just focusing moving forward.
Ayers Rock can close anytime and I was determined to reach to the summit.
These photos that I’m posting now, I took them on the way down with appreciation.
Yeah, I reached to the summit!
We took the last Hop On Hop Off bus back to hotel.
For the last Hop On Hop Off bus, the Sun Set View is inclusive.
We already watched the Sun Set on previous day, but watched it again.
We returned to hotel happily.
We took a shower before dinner.
The beer tasted good and we happily talked about our adventure over nice dinner at hotel restaurant: ILKARI RESTAURANT.
After dinner, I massage my body, especially my legs.
I’m glad that I brought Egyptian Sandalwood Oil.
Again, it’s worth it to wear a mountain shoes to avoid any pain. hahaha
According to our tour guide, when this trip was planned there was a direct flight from Melbourne to Ayers Rock everyday.
However, today, the flight is scheduled on some days of week and we couldn’t use that direct flight for our tour schedule.
Therefore, we departed our hotel at 5 am to catch two flights (Melbourne to Sydney and Sydney to Ayers Rock) to reach Ayers Rock.
When we reached to the airport it was still dark.
Each of us received packed breakfast to eat at the airport.
Sun rose and became brighter when we departed Melbourne.
I was still full from a packed breakfast so I brought this banana cake back which was served on the flight.
It looks a big city to me; perhaps, I should plan to visit one day.
I did some window shopping at the airport while waiting for the next flight.
It was fun to visit various shops to check the trend In the Australian market.
I can kill time just doing window shopping. hahaha
I had lunch on the flight; just nice for my stomach condition.
I also enjoyed smooth free inflight WiFi service. fufufu
I got excited when we were about to land.
I was lucky.; I could see Ayers Rock (Uluru) from the plane.
And Mount Olgas (Kata Tjuta: Many Heads).
Even we landed, we could have a good view of Ayers Rock.
It has proven that we safely landed at Ayers Rock Airport!
We headed for the Sails in the Desert, our hotel for two nights.
We were welcomed by mysterious local music.
After checking-in, we quickly went to our room to get ready (unpack) for the adventure.
We headed for Kara Tjuta.
There is an iconic street on the way to Kata Tjuta.
This road is called the shortest short cut to Perth.
Perhaps, one day I can try 2,000 km journey.
We had a nice walk to the Vally of the Wind in the Walpa Gorge Walk, Mount Olgas.
The Vally of Wind.
The mirror pond looked beautiful today.
Thanks Mount Olgas to welcome me today.
Sun started setting at the direction of Mount Olgas.
Now we are going to enjoy Ayers Rock’s way of sun setting with sparkling wine and finger foods.
First Ayers Rock is in dark colour.
I also tried to drink up Ayers Rock by placing it in my glass upside down.
Sun started setting, then…the colour of Ayers Rock changed to its Amazing red!
It was so romantic: cloud is in amazing gold and full Moon rose from left side of Ayers Rock.
Sun set and Ayers Rock returned to darker colour again.
The other side (the direction of Sun Set) is also beautiful.
We, Japanese, usually appreciate watching Sun Setting, but today otherwise.
We enjoyed Ayers Rock in colour of Sun Set.
Hummm I don’t like this… the dark cloud started spreading….
After enjoying beautiful Sun Setting View, we had a nice picnic dinner.
We supposed to have our romantic dinner at the table like this…
However, we started feeling rain dropping…Some of us took initiative to move to a table under the roof by taking a chair.
And others followed.
It became more romantic and created more cozy atmosphere to unite us closer.
We introduced ourselves and laughed throughout the dinner though rain became harder.
I also enjoyed dessert: a chocolate cake with a hot chocolate.
I made a cup of hot chocolate before announcement of dessert menu. hahaha
We were surely tired because we started today early.
We came back to hotel to rest, hoping to climb Ayers Rock tomorrow.
Please stop lightning, thundering and raining.
