Trip to Palau

I was absent from Word Press but there are so many things that I wanted to post.

Sorry, I was too tired. hahaha

I took days off from 31 January – 5 February 2020 to go to Palau for diving.

I haven’t dived for a while so surely I was excited.

Unfortunately, the direct flight between Narita and Palau by Delta is no longer in service.

We took United to Guam and change flight.

I didn’t know it was preferred to obtain ESTA (electric VISA for the US) for transit at Guam.

We need to go through immigration to exit and re-enter at Guam.

I busily registered myself but I received a notice that it will take two days to process it.

I needed the internet access and rushed to the gate.

Hoping application would be processed by the time we reached to Guam.

I continued to register for others till losing internet connection before departure.

My seat was facing back so I could have a clear view of airplanes heading for runway

And taking off.

I purchased inflight internet access for an hour to complete registration for ESTA for friends.

I’ve done what we could do at that time.

I had Loco Moco for inflight lunch.

I thought the way serving lemon tea is cute.

Now landing to Guam.

Unfortunately, ESTA wasn’t approved by the time we landed.

However, we were informed by a flight attendant that we could queue at the line for ESTA holder for transit.

We exited and re-entered.

We had good four hours to connecting flight.

We chatted over drinks and light snacks.

United’s flight video is collaborated with Star Wars!!!

This might be showing at previous flight but I was too busy registering ESTA so I’m might have missed it. hahaha

I had sandwich for inflight meal.

It looks simple yet nice.

The person next to me placed her arm on my inflight monitor controller so I could not view anything.

When I managed to press it while she moved her arm but later she placed her arm to change the channel. Sigh

She was watching Japanese movie with English subtitle so I watched her screen.

It was less than 2 hour flight but I felt it longer…

I didn’t know that Palau is stop over for this flight and this continued to Manila.

I had to walk over two passengers to exit. Ahhhhh

Finally, we arrived at Palau and the Penthouse Hotel in Koror.

The internet connection is superb and WCTC shopping center is nicely located in few minutes walk away.

The hotel provides blue beach towel at the counter.

The next day we had a breakfast at the hotel restaurant.

For the next day, we bought breakfast at the supermarket at WCTC such as anpan (red bean bread), yogurt and orange juice for breakfast.

We departed for diving shop, Cruse Control.

Nice staffs looked after us.

I decided to take a license for NITROX this time.

We came to Palau in early February, especially new moon for spawning season for Tsunodashiuo (Moorish Idols).

If we are lucky we could see over few hundreds even thousand Moorish Idols in a group.

We dived mainly at Blue Corner where we can expect many various fish and of course Moorish Idols.

To my surprise there are many sharks swimming under a group of Moorish Idols.

I didn’t know sharks are not good at hunting.

Therefore, a shark targets Moorish Idols when they become weak at the spawning season.

Unfortunately; they swim deeper than us and light won’t reach them so it’s not clear on the photo.

However, these shadows indicate sharks and you would know there are MANY.

We were lucky that we managed to watch Moorish Idols at most of our dives.

We also watched other fish.

Can you find a fish?

And at the German Channel, we also caught Mantas!

I even watched Manta Train!

However, I noticed there is limited capacity for one post.

I will post the movie of Manta Train on the different post.

Sayonara Koror, Sayonara Moorish Idols!

These are lunch that I had on the boat.

And at the shop.

After 14 dives over 3.5 days, I joined a half day trip to Shell Island and Jelly Fish Park for snorkeling which is operated by Antelope.

Shell Island and also called Inoki Island.

Japanese retired Professional wrestler, Inoki has a property here.

It’s Shell Island because there are Shakogai (Giant Clams).

And some fish

The next is the major destination… heading for Jelly Fish Park!!!!

When I visited Palau in 2017, Jelly Fish Park was closed because of death of Jelly Fish due to global warming.

It was so much fun!

There are so many of jelly fish and these are harmless to touch!

Every night, we had nice food such as Thai, Indian and Sushi for supper.

On the last night, we and staffs of diving shop gathered to have a party at Italian restaurant.

Our departure flight was at 3:35 am, I slept through the returned flights.

I remember having breakfast only. hahaha

Food Tasting at the Grill on 30th, Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba

I was invited for food tasting at the Grill on 30th, Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba.

It was a full course French with a nice view.

Chef developed a menu using my friends products.

I was amazed and impressed how Chef used granola in these plates.

Surely I enjoyed every bites!

Thank you my friend for inviting me for the event!

Short Trip to Unohama Onsen, Niigata

I didn’t have a proper weekend for for rest for months so I took Monday and Tuesday off.

I also needed time to clean dirty dishes and clear garbage from gathering.

It was before noon, Choco and I packed up and left house.

It’s his first stay over.

We stopped every two hours for Choco’s toilet; nonetheless, it’s good to take a break for a driver as well.

We took a quick bite for lunch at the parking area.

It was a nice clear day.

I expected to see Autumn leaves changing in colours.

We drove to mountainous area and the scenery became more scenic.

There is snow….

Kanetsu Tunnel

Enjoying looking at the rice field after harvest.

We stopped at the Parking Area for toilet break.

There is some snow and I wanted Choco to experience his first snow.

I thought he would enjoy it but he didn’t; he angrily asked me to pick him up.

We continued driving country side.

We finally arrived Unohama Onsen (Unohama Hot Spring) Wan Yado, Niigata.

Our room is typical traditional Japanese style Tatami room.

Choco looked happy.

The inn had a problem with boiler so we couldn’t use shower.

Therefore, we went to the inn across the street – Mikaku – to use their bath.

There is a bath inside

And outside (this style is called Goemon Buro, bath tub is in the shape of bowl).

The beauty part of our inn is there is a room for Choco.

Incan freely take and use basic necessities for Choco such as treats, food bowls, toilet sheets, etc.

I can ask to look after Choco as well (charged service).

We had a private room for our dinner.

Choco could join us and he had his plate as well.

We ordered crab menu; there are various way of cooking crabs.

Boiled

Nabe (Pot Dish)

Osashimi no Funamori (raw fish on boat)

Grilled

Other fish dish and Chawanmushi (steam egg)

Tenpura

Rice and Soup

Oops I forgot to take a photo of dessert Matcha (Green Tea) Pudding.

We are all tired so we went to bed early.

Next morning, we started with a morning bath by visiting Mikaku.

I didn’t notice a manager was quietly sitting at reception.

So cute!

I got ready and went down for breakfast.

We cook fish on our own plate.

It’s a long way back home, about 4 hours to return Tokyo.

We left the place after our breakfast.

People visit Onahama for beach.

It’s Autumn/Winter; therefore beach is quiet.

We took a different road back to Tokyo.

We admired different mountains such as Myoko.

Choco looked excited during the trip; however, once we reached home…. he suddenly looks exhausted.

I hope Choco enjoyed his first stay over.

Business Trip to Toyama

I was in Toyama from 30 October – 3 November 2019 for business trip.

Originally, we plan to go to Toyama by Hokuriku Shinkansen (bullet train) but it was suspended because the railway was damaged by Typhoon 19.

I had a confidence that a Japanese railway company, JR Nishi Nihon (JR West Japan) will do their best to recover the line; in fact, it started its operation on 25 October 2019, meaning JR Nishi Nihon recovered Hokuriku Shinkansen in two weeks.

However, I was worried that it might take longer to recover to affect our business trip; therefore, we flew.

We safely arrived Toyama Airport.

There are four flights in a day between Tokyo/Haneda and Toyama.

It’s either two flights in early morning or 2 flights in late evening for convenience of business people.

Therefore, we arrived Toyama early on 30 October 2019.

We couldn’t check in so we dropped our luggage at hotel and walked to Toyama Station.

We took a taxi to visit Toyama Castle before going to exhibition hall, Toyama Techno Hall, for preparation for our participation in T-Messe 2019.

We climbed to Castle Tower.

There is a nice garden.

We had to make a move; we returned to Toyama Station area for lunch.

We had our lunch at Shirohacha.

Then went to exhibition hall, Toyama Techno Hall.

There is a vending machine for ice cream so we decided to take a break; I had a salty caramel.

We finished booth set up and returned to city centre to check in at hotel: Comfort Hotel Toyama Ekimae.

We went out for dinner at Chohachi.

I really enjoyed local specialty: Shiroebi (Japanese glass shrimp).

This Shiroebi no Oshizushi (Japanese glass shrimp pressed sushi) was awesome!

Work hard during day time and enjoyed nice dinner at night.

Yagura Zushi

Kappo Ogawa

I also had crab at Sakanaya Dojo Toyama Ekimae Store.

Honestly, a casual dining place like Izakaya in Toyama serves very fresh, delicious seafood and very reasonable!

On last night, I had two dinners with different people.

After eating a quick dinner at Sakanaya Dojo Toyama Ekimae Store, I went to a train sushi restaurant.

I already had a nice seafood at Sakanaya Dojo so I thought I’m gonna have few sushi to accompany them.

But big NO.

After queuing for some time, we managed to get a table at Mawaru Toyamawan Sushitama Toyama Eki Store.

It was also awesome!

I enjoyed fresh seafood very much in Toyama.

I also enjoyed watching cute Murata Seisakusho (Murata Manufacturing Co Ltd) cheer leader’s cheering while working.

Murata Seisakusho is Japanese leading machinery and parts company.

By the time leaving Toyama, I start liking Toyama.

Now I want to go back to Toyama for seafood, Onsen (hot spring) and nice sceneries.

I started missing Toyama and feeling melancholic but soon I get excited finding Star Wars wrapped aircraft at Haneda Airport!

The END

Family Dinner @ Daikanen, Hotel New Otani Makuhari

After Halloween, the town will be decorated for Christmas.

We went to Hotel New Otani Makuhari for dinner and hotel is already celebrating Christmas.

We had Chinese at Daikanen.

And I had my first Shanghai Crab in my life.

We had a pair because female crab has eggs and male crab has crab innards so we couldn’t decide which one to take so took both.

One day I want to go to Shanghai during winter to eat those Shanghai Crabs!

Weekend Trip to Malaysia (Day 4)

Time flies…I’m going back to Tokyo today….

I’ll miss the Club Lounge and Malaysian Food.

I was looking at the hotel restaurants’ promotion flyer at the room and it gave me a craving of Char Kway Teow.

I’m glad that the hotel served Char Kway Teow for breakfast today! Yeah!

I enhanced my Nasi Lamak with sunny side up egg and chicken curry. fufufu

I was introduced to Malaysian delicacy today: Malaysian Soft Boiled Egg with Kaya Butter Toast.

Kaya is coconut spread.

We add soya sauce and pepper to soft boiled egg and dip Kaya toast.

It’s nice to have it with egg york! Yammy!

I didn’t have much time after breakfast.

It’s time to head for the airport. Oh No!

Sayonara Traders Hotel…. it’s a nice hotel to stay in.

It has a nice view of Twin Tower, nice Bar, spa and service!

I’ll be back one day; perhaps, When I decide to have another Honeymoon Vacation with my BFF!

I reached to the airport…. quickly checked in and we had our drinks at the Old Town White Coffee.

Drinks are nice but I didn’t want to finish my drink.

I went in 15 mins before my boarding time because I wasn’t ready to go.

I wasn’t ready but I had to force myself.

I walked through till my seat.

That’s how the time was tight. hahaha

My seat is consider as an Aisle Seat because my desk is inside, next to the window and my seat is at the Aisle side though that is only seat.

Sayonara Kuala Lumpur; Sayonara Malaysia.

I read ELLE Japan and continued watching the movie where I left it on the way to Kuala Lumpur: the Avengers Endgame.

I’m not an Avengers fan, but enjoyed the movie.

Perhaps. I should try other Avengers series.

I had a nice Japanese lunch by Zipangu, Shangri La Hotel.

I start watching Japanese movie – Kingdom – but I could not finish it.

It is interesting movie so I should find a way to watch the rest.

I should check NETFLIX, Amazon Prime Video and JCOM On-Demand (cable TV) for the availability of the movie.

In between, I also enjoyed in-flight shopping.

This is ANA limited edition of a collection of Hakuhodo Cosmetics Brush in Sakura design.

These brushes are brushes that I use and a carrying case is convenient for travel and even daily use.

I ended my weekend trip to Malaysia by safely landed at the Haneda Airport.

The trip was short, but quality was very high!

It was definitely worth going!

Weekend Trip to Malaysia (Day 3)

We lazily woke up late in the morning.

We had to rush to go up for the breakfast.

Or shall I calm it brunch…?

I should exercise because I’ve been eating very well.

I wanted to swim at the pool of Sky Bar where we enjoyed drinks and music last night.

I selfishly occupIed the Twin Tower view. fufufu

After relaxing my body with water, we went to the SPA for 120 mins Spa Treatment: Blissful Renewal.

The menu includes Aromatherapy Foot Ritual, Aromatherapy Massage, Clarifying Facial and Herbal Tea.

We started with drinking herbal tea.

We selected the aroma oil; I selected Oolong for energizing (Lavender, Lime and Oolong Tea).

We moved to a couple room to start our Spa.

I enjoyed it very much though I don’t remember much because I slept well during the treatment.

Nonetheless, my body is totally relaxed and I feel fresh now!

It’s time for cocktail and dinner so we went straight to the Lounge.

Since my body is relaxed, drinks made me feeling even better. hahaha

My BFF made me a killer drink: coffee chocolate and whisky.

It’s her husband’s recipe and it’s nicely Chocolatey.

I regret that I forgot to take a photo.

It’s a hot drink, looks like a mug of coffee.

Now it’s time to roll over on the bed!

This is my favorite moment with BFF.

Weekend Trip to Malaysia (Day 2)

I checked in at the Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

It’s located nearby KLCC Shopping Mall and it has a nice pool bar if we decide to go out of the room.

Since my flight arrived at 5:30 am, I arrived the hotel earlier than normal check in time which is 2:00 pm.

The hotel receptionist is nice allowing us to start using the Club Lounge.

The Lounge has a nice Twin Tower view.

We had our breakfast at the lounge overlooking Twin Tower.

I had my Nasi Lamak and Tose there.

This is how I enhanced my Nasi Lamak.

I added extra beef sausage and brisk and ordered a sunny side up egg from the kitchen.

Tose

My room was ready earlier after finishing my breakfast.

I’ve requested the Twin Tower view and I got a nice view from the room.

After taking a short nap, we went up to the lounge again for a high tea.

And continued for cocktail and dinner. hahaha

It’s getting dark and Twin Tower started to look better and better in the dark.

We decided to take a look of Sky Bar by going up one floor.

This is my favorite bar in a town.

After enjoying its atmosphere, chit chatting, music and drinks at the Sky Bar, we continued chatting in the room overlooking the Twin Tower from the room until we fell sleep.

This how I love to spend my weekend get away with BFF!!!
