Housekeeping Day

After work, I arrive home hungry.

I usually cook for dinner and lunch for my lunch box.

To ease my evenings, I decided to spend few hours to cook.

59

(Dashi (stock for miso soup and basic Japanese food), pumpkin in dashi flavour, miso soup, red snapper in soy sauce flavour, boiled spinach, bean sprout and egg in oyster sauce flavor and mashed pumpkin.)

And another thing…..recently, I found out that I could keep my clothes cleaner if I hand wash by myself.

I’m a lazy person, I often send my clothes to laundry service.

But the other day, I doubted its work when I received returned clothes.

I tried hand washing my jacket with Emal, detergent for clothes for dry-cleaning. (To my surprise, Emal is Kao’s product, too.)

I thought I am going to destroy my clothes, but….

I could not believe what I saw then, BROWN COLOURED WATER……?????

Tonight I washed my office pants…..I am not proud how it looks, but I thought I can share my surprise and this is the proof. Sigh…

Okay, I admit I hate ironing, but now I’m considering to buy a good steam iron.

The jacket look the same after ironing as if these were returned from the laundry shop.

Happy Father’s Day Eve

58

Today, I invited my parents for Father’s Day Eve dinner.

As you know, I visited Miyazaki to attend a meeting and I bought a Miyazaki Mango.

This mango costed me JPY 2,500 (USD 25) a piece.

In Tokyo, price is usually higher; this mango could cost more, USD 30? USD 40?

If this was the Egg of Sun brand, it could cost USD 50 in Miyazaki and USD 80 – 100 in Tokyo.

I asked why this brand is so expensive.

The type of mango is the same, apple mango family, that we can find in Thailand, the Philippines, and other ASEAN countries.

The Egg of Sun mango grew in a glass house without any agrochemical.

A farmer carefully checks each piece of mango, not by a tree a piece, twice in a day: morning and evening.

The Egg of Sun brand is a winner of the beauty contest, it has a beautiful shape (no dents, no scratch, and no color changes), large (size 5L: more than 350g) and sweet (sugar contents have to be higher than 15).

I bought a ripe mango which is smaller (size 4L).

I don’t think I would spend so much money on a mango in future.

That’s why I asked my parents for dinner to celebrate Father’s Day Eve tonight.

Mango cannot wait. hahaha

Mango & Yuru-Chara

It was a long day because I attended a meeting from 9 am – 5 pm.

I thought I won’t have anything to share today, BUT I was lucky.

At the reception, I ate few pieces of Miyazaki Mango, Taiyo no Tamago (Egg of Sun), which costs JPY 5,000 (USD 50) per a piece.

Mmmmmm so sweet, so delicious!!!

47

I enjoyed watching a dance performance of Miyazaki Yuru-Chara, Miyazaki-ken (Miyazaki Dog).

Yuru-Chara serves as Local Ambassador to promote region such as local food, sightseeing places, industries, etc.

Yuru-Chara are Kawaii (Cute)!

Penang White Curry Instant Noodle

32

I tried this Penang White Curry Instant Noodle, a Malaysian instant noodle, with spinach topping for lunch.

The soup is nice, shrimpy  and creamy, but SPICY.

You can tell its hotness by its colour, SO RED!

This  noodle became famous in Malaysia via SNS.

The demand was greater than the supply/production; therefore it was sold at the black market in Malaysia at the time.

Yes, it’s delicious, but now I am sweating.

Luckily, I bought a set of Disney designed deodorant spray and body wipe.

I can use them now with the scent of NOA. hahaha

Turkish Lunch

28

I ate doner kebab for lunch.

The restaurant remind me my trip to Turkey (Izumir, Konya, Cappadocia and Istanbul) in 2011…people are nice, scenary is beautiful, food is good…

In 1890, The Turkish frigate Ertugul sank off the coast of Wakayama, Japan. Japanese rescued Turkish sailors and took them back to Istanbul by two Japanese frigates.  Since then we have good relationships between two countries.

I learned that many things are originated from Turkey such as tulips, yogurt, etc.

I would love to visit Turkey again♪

A Productive Day

In the morning, I went to Loft in Yurakucho.

Loft sells unique and functional products. It is a good place for window shopping.

16

Yes, I visited there for window shopping, but I ended up buying…a folding umbrella, a super wide lens and two sheets of nail stickers.

This umbrella is very compact and light; it will protect me from both rain and strong sunshine. The rainy season is approaching. We usually take public transportations, so we check a weather forecast before we go out. If necessary, we will bring a folding umbrella. That’s why it’s good to be small and light.

In addition, I bought a super wide lens for iphone for selfee, and two sheets of nail stickers. These are absolute necessities!

17

Then, I had a lunch. I grilled wagyu Chateaubriand and enjoyed with a glass of Maltese Cactus Liquor as aperitif. Kanpai (cheers)!

18

After lunch, I went to a beauty salon.

I was greeted by a cute pug, Roku-chan! She is surely a mascot for a beauty salon, isn’t she?

19

I thought my day would end after this….but there was a miracle!!!

I was at the right place at the right time.

I met my friends from Singapore on the street.

We tried to meet, but we couldn’t coordinate our schedules; BUT WE WERE FATED TO MEET.

We caught up at a Roppongi’s famous cafe, Almond.

I have a nice memory of Almond.

We spell it Almond, but we called this cafe AMANDO. I don’t know why.

I asked an American friend to meet me at AMANDO, but he couldn’t reach to the place.

I wondered because Almond is located at the main junction; it is hard to miss.

Then he told me, “this is not AMANDO, this is ALMOND”.

Then, I realized he was right.

Since then I always warn about this to my friends who are foreigners. hahaha

This cafe is famous for a ring cream puff.

Tsukiji de Kaisendon

(Seafood Bowl at Tsukiji)

Tsukiji Fish Market wakes up early in the morning.

If you go early, you can watch tuna auction.

I don’t understand what they are shouting, but it’s worth waking up for.

If you cannot wake early, don’t worry, there are quite a number of small shops located outside of the Fish Market (Jogai) to enjoy eating and shopping.
11

12

Look how small and simple

their restaurants are!

But don’t worry, the seafood bowl is delicious!

Tuna, Shrimp, squid, yellowtail, salmon roe, sea urchin and egg (cooked).

Nice Lunch at the Imperial Hotel♪

I had a nice buffet lunch at the Imperial Hotel♪

The Imperial Hotel was opened in November 1890 as the largest western-style hotel then.

This legendary hotel has been welcoming royalty, heads of states, celebrities and international business leaders for 126 years.

The hotel is located just south of the Imperial Palace.

It was a nice sunny day so I enjoyed a nice view overlooking the Palace.

8

Of course, I enjoyed nice food!

If you decide to visit the Imperial Hotel, please be careful.

Among Japanese, this hotel is known as TEIKOKU HOTEL.

When you ask for the direction to this hotel on a street, you should ask for TEIKOKU HOTEL to save your traveling time. (^_-)

Seaweed

5.JPG

There are many types of seaweed.

In English, they are all called SEAWEED.

But each of them has a name.

From left to right…. Konbu, Nori, Wakame, Aosa and Mekabu.

It’s healthy; rich in vitamines, minerals and protein!

We surely do love seaweed, don’t we? (^_-)

Uploading Photos…

Tonight I cooked a simple dinner… Nikujaga (beef, potatos & carrots. There wasn’t any onion in my refrigerator, so I cooked without onion), salad (octopus, avocado and carrot), omisoshiru (seaweed miso-soup) and pudding.

image1 (1)

Hummm, I better learn how to use camera apps to make them look delicious. hahaha

I also need to learn how to upload a blog with photos from iPhone.  I’ve been unsuccessful….

I took a bath with Kneipp’s bath salt.  I enjoyed the aroma while soaking my body♪

Okay, I’m ready to go to bed now. Oyasuminasai (Good Night)
